way too...

We love hearing stories from our students!

M told us that her teacher at school had a birthday and she was turning "way too old" (direct quote from the teacher, apparently!)

M also told us that she can't eat bubblegum because it makes it hard for her to get her poopy out, but that her daddy and brother were allowed to have bubblegum.

---

and the best thing we've heard this week is how many students are really going to miss class next week when we're off for spring break.
C said "I love Tuesdays. I love it here!"
T said "Awe, but I want to come!"
A said "Can I come anyway?"
P said "I'm going to miss you! I love you!"

warms our hearts!!! We have the BEST kids.

Diva

Mia informed us today that in WWE, the girls are called Divas. She also noted that there are boys, too.

Morganne rubbed her chin and announced that she needed to shave.

It's always a fun and enlightening hour with the noon kids!

"That's how it goes"

Out of the mouths of babes:

Mia was explaining to me how the prizes work at Happy Joe's Pizza. She told me you get tickets with numbers on them, "ya know, like 33, 34 or 65, 66.." and then you can use those tickets to buy whatever item matches that number "and that's how it goes"

This is the same girl who, when she got to the studio, was dancing in the lobby to a Lady Gaga song her mom was playing. She was showcasing some skipping, jumping, shuffle steps, passe, side leg kicks (and they were HIGH!) So, after ballet, our whole ballet class free style danced to another Lady Gaga song for fun!

In other news, little Grace brought me 3 pennies!

The complex thought and generosity of the littlest minds & hearts continues to astound & impress me!

If I gave you 1 million dollars...

We like to chat with the preschoolers while we take attendance and usually ask each of them each a question. This week we asked each class what they would buy if we gave them 1 million dollars. The answers ranged from Barbies to headbands to clothes to candy and then today one answer stood out among the rest. A 3 year old told us she didn't need anything so she would put the money in her piggy bank because she had a piggy bank.
Hands down, the most mature answer!

Yesterday, when asked what their favorite thing was to eat for breakfast, one student replied "corn dogs". Yep -- breakfast.

Dancing is...

It's back! Last year we were polling our students with "I dance because..." and having them write their answers on our dry erase board. We got to read some wonderful answers and have each one's picture taken to then share through social media.  Because this past recital celebrated 15 years of dance at ATD, all the pictures were printed and on display at the auditorium.

This year we've decided to try a new question. We'll be asking the kids to fill in the blank of "Dancing is..."

We're looking forward to seeing all of the creative answers again this year!

with comfort comes stories

Proof we're settled into the routine of the year and students are becoming more comfortable with their teachers and classmates...we're now seeing more of their personalities :-)

little L: "Um, miss Lindsay?"
L: "yes?"
little L: "I love ballet dancing!"

L: "Shrug your shoulders like this. 'I don't know?'"
M: "Yeah, like when someone farts... and you don't know who farted."
